Wai Bing is the son of Tang and the younger brother of Tai Ding. When Tang died, Crown Prince Tai Ding had already passed away, so he made Wai Bing king. "Historical Records" says that he reigned for three years, and "Mencius" said that he reigned for two years. Another theory is that after Tang's death, Tai Ding's son Tai Jia succeeded him directly. "Wai Bing's second year, Zhongren's fourth year" refers to the age of the two at that time. However, there is a "Bu Bing" sacrifice in the inscriptions, and scholars generally believe that Wai Bing was indeed king. After the death of Wai Bing, his younger brother Zhong Ren came to the throne.
