Wai Ren is the son of Tai Wu and the younger brother of Zhong Ding. Zhong Ding succeeded to the throne after his death. "Historical Records" only records his generation, and says that "Zhong Ding Shu Que does not exist", which shows that the documents of this period have long been lost. "Zuo Zhuan" has the saying "Shang Dynasty had Ju and Pi", which puts the rebellion of Ju and Pi together with the Guan and Hu of Xia Dynasty; the current "Bamboo Book Annals" ties the rebellion of Pi and Pi to the first year of Wai Ren. After Wai Ren's death, his younger brother He Danjia came to the throne.

PoliticsThe Rebellion of Shupi
"Zuo Zhuan" states that "Shang Dynasty had Ju and Pi", which means that Fang Guo Ju and Pi in the Shang Dynasty once rebelled, and they were juxtaposed with Guan and Hu in the Xia Dynasty and Xu and Yan in the Zhou Dynasty. The current version of the "Bamboo Book Annals" places the incident in the first year of Wai Ren, but the reliability of this version is low.
