Yang Jia was the son of Zu Ding. He succeeded his uncle Nan Geng as king and lived in Yan according to the "Bamboo Book Annals". "Historical Records" says: "At the time of Emperor Yang Jia's family, Yin was in decline. Since Zhong Ding, disciples were replaced by Shi Shi, and the disciples may have competed with each other to replace him, which was more chaotic than the Ninth Dynasty, so the princes did not go to court." After Yang Jia's death, his younger brother Pan Geng came to the throne, and then moved the capital to Yin, ending this chaotic situation.
