Shao Kang is the posthumous son of Xia Wangxiang. At the time of the killing, Hou Min escaped from the hole in the wall and returned to his mother's home, where he gave birth to Shao Kang. When Shao Kang grew up, he was appointed as the Mu Zheng of the Youyi clan. He sent people to hunt him down, and he fled to the Youyu clan as the cook. Yu Si, the leader of the Yu family, married his two daughters to him and granted him the title of Lunyi, giving him "a field of one hundred and a brigade of people", that is, a land of ten miles in radius and a crowd of five hundred people.
Shao Kang extended his kindness to Lunyi and gathered Xia's old troops. Mi, the surviving minister of Xia, raised an army from the You Ge clan, gathered the remaining people who were pouring irrigation and pouring wine, and destroyed Han Zhuo; Shao Kang sent Nü Ai to sneak into Guoyi to spy on Guo, and destroyed Guo Yu; Shao Kang then restored the country, "restored Yu's achievements, and worshiped Xia Peitian without losing the old things." This was called "Shao Kang Zhongxing" in history. This period of history is mainly found in "Zuo Zhuan" and is not recorded in "Historical Records".
Shao Kang Zhongxing is the first "Zhongxing" story in Chinese history: a posthumous son in exile, with the support of a small fiefdom and old ministers, finally restored his ancestral property. Later generations often compared him to Shao Kang whenever the dynasty was revived. Shao Kang is truly remarkable for his ability to wait for the time, make good use of spies, and unite his ministers. However, this period of history is mainly based on the recollections of the Spring and Autumn period figures in "Zuo Zhuan" and is not recorded in "Historical Records", so its details are difficult to confirm.
