Liu Hong, whose real name was Liu Shan, was nominally the son of Emperor Hui. He was first named Marquis of Xiangcheng. In 186 BC, after the death of Liu Buyi, King of Changshan, he succeeded him as King of Changshan and changed his name to Liu Yi. In 184 BC, the Earlier Young Emperor was deposed, and Empress Dowager Lu made him emperor, changing his name to Liu Hong. There will be no further chronology, and the title of emperor will still be given by the Empress Dowager. In 180 BC, Empress Lü died and Zhu Lu was executed. The ministers believed that the Young Emperor and the kings of Liang, Huaiyang, and Changshan were "not really filial sons." If they were allowed to grow up and serve, they would be troublesome in the future, so they appointed Liu Heng as the acting king. Dongmou Hou Liu Xingju and his servant Xia Houying entered the palace to take the Young Emperor out. He was killed together with the other kings that night.

PoliticsSuccession as emperor
After Empress Dowager Lu deposed and killed the Earlier Young Emperor, she summoned the ministers to discuss the establishment of a new emperor, who succeeded him as King Liu Yi of Changshan and changed his name to Liu Hong. Because the Empress Dowager was in charge, history books do not date him separately, but he is still called the Empress Dowager in a certain year.
PoliticsDeposed and killed
After Zhu Lu was executed, the ministers discussed privately and believed that the Young Emperor and the kings were all the sons of Emperor Hui, whom Empress Lü falsely claimed. If he was established as the monarch, Lu's disaster might happen again. In leap nine months, the king entered the capital, and the Young Emperor was expelled from the palace and killed that night.
