Titles
Posthumous Emperor Xiaomin · Han and Zhao were granted the title of Marquis of Huai'an

Sima Ye Zi Yanqi, the son of Prince of Wuxiao Sima Yan, the grandson of Emperor Wu of Jin, succeeded his uncle Qin Xian Wang Sima Jian, and he was granted the title of King of Qin. When Luoyang fell in 311, he fled to Xingyang and later moved to Mi County. He was crowned Crown Prince by Xun Fan, Xun Zu and others. Emperor Huai was killed in 313. Sima Ye became emperor in Chang'an and changed the Yuan Dynasty to Jianxing at the age of fourteen (some say fifteen). At this time, Chang'an had a small population and a severe food shortage, and the government was controlled by Qu Yun and Suo Chen.

During Emperor Min's reign, the imperial court relied on Yongzhou governor Jia Tzu and Qu Yun to barely resist the Han attack. In 315, Liu Yao failed to attack Chang'an. However, the famine in Chang'an became increasingly severe. In 316, Liu Yao besieged the city again, and food supplies were exhausted. Emperor Min surrendered in a sheep cart with a jade in his hand, and the Western Jin Dynasty perished. He was sent to Pingyang, suffered humiliation at Liu Cong, and was finally killed at the end of 317. The following year, Sima Rui proclaimed himself emperor in Jiankang, and Eastern Jin was established.

When Emperor Min came to the throne, the Western Jin Dynasty was already in name only. Chang'an was isolated in the city and it was difficult to sustain food and soldiers. He was young and unable to recover, and he worked hard for three years just to save a little name for the Jin Dynasty, and left an orthodox basis for Sima Rui to continue the Jin Dynasty in Jiangdong.
