Ji Lang is the son of King Xi. The year after he ascended the throne, he seized the garden of Jiang State, the palace of Bianbo, and the fields of Ziqin and others. Five officials followed King Hui's uncle Wang Zitui to cause rebellion, and King Hui fled to Zheng State. In 673 BC, Zheng Ligong and Uncle Guo invaded the royal city and killed King Zitui. King Hui restored his throne and then gave the land east of Hulao to the Zheng State, further reducing the direct jurisdiction of the Zhou royal family.

King Hui reigned for twenty-five years, which was the heyday of Qi Huangong's hegemony: Qi State attacked the mountain troops in the north to rescue Yan and Cunxing to rescue the defenders, and led the princes to attack Chu to establish the Zhaoling Alliance; Duke Xian of Jin annexed Guo, Yu and other countries, and the Jin State began to rise. King Hui favored Wang Zidai in his later years and wanted to depose Crown Prince Zheng. Qi Huangong gathered the princes at the first stop to meet Crown Prince to show support. King Hui died in 652 BC, and Crown Prince Zheng ascended the throne with the support of Qi.
