Lin Xin is the son of Zu Jia. "Historical Records" records that "Emperor Jia collapsed, and his son Emperor Lin Xin was established. Emperor Lin Xin collapsed, and his younger brother Geng Ding was established." The deeds of his reign have not been handed down. It is worth noting that Lin Xin's enshrined position is not included in the Zhou sacrifice inscriptions of the late Shang Dynasty, so some scholars suspect that he did not actually ascend the throne, or that his reign was very short; some scholars believe that "Brother Xin" in the inscriptions refers to Lin Xin.

During the reign

  1. PoliticsPassed on to my younger brother

After Lin Xin's death, the throne was passed to his younger brother Kang Ding (referred to as Geng Ding in "Historical Records"). This was the last time in the Shang Dynasty that the throne passed between brother and brother. After that, the throne was succeeded by the son after the death of the father.

  2. CultureZhouji has no name

In the Zhou sacrifice genealogy of the late Shang Dynasty, Zu Jia was directly listed as Kang Ding, but Lin Xin was not found. Based on this, some scholars believe that Lin Xin never ascended the throne, and the records in "Historical Records" need to be confirmed by more evidence.
