Mang is the son of Sophora japonica, also known as "Huang". "Historical Records" only records his life. According to the "Bamboo Chronicles", after he ascended the throne, he sank Xuan Gui in the Yellow River to worship the river god. He also patrolled eastward to the seaside and caught big fish. Xuan Gui is a black jade Gui. "Yu Gong" says that Yu was given Xuan Gui after he succeeded in controlling floods. This shows that Xuan Gui is related to water control and royal power in ancient people's concepts. After Mang's death, his son Xie ascended the throne.

SocietyHunting across the sea
According to the "Bamboo Chronicles", Mang once hunted eastward in the sea and caught big fish. This, together with the records of Zhudong's expedition to the east and the coming of various barbarians to the dynasty, reflects the exchanges between the Xia people and the eastern coastal areas.
